The Engineering Department is responsible for all work related to construction of Polk County highways, bridges, and the township bridge program. This includes surveys, design, right of way, permitting, construction inspection, and project administration. Polk County spends approximately 3.5 million dollars a year in construction on its County State Aid Highway system and currently 0 dollars on its local County Road system. Polk County administers approximately 500,000 to 1.5 million dollars in township bridge replacements yearly.
