AG & Drainage Department

AG Duties
  • Enforce the Minnesota Noxious Weed Laws by inspecting private and public lands within Polk County, determine level of infestation and a method of control;
  • Inspect certified seed distributers within Polk County by collecting seed samples and sending to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's state lab for verification of their contents and accuracy of their label;
  • Implement a roadside noxious weed spraying control program along county, state and federal roads within Polk County;
  • Administer exams to those seeking a Minnesota pesticide applicator's license;
  • Give support to township and city local weed inspectors;

Drainage Duties

  • Provide technical and legal information to the public on matters concerning any of Polk County's Drainage Systems;
  • Conduct field inspections and implement repairs where needed within a drainage system;
  • Provide engineering services for the maintenance of the drainage systems, such as: surveying, staking, elevations, establishing grades, etc.;
  • Supervise competent contractors in the maintenance of the drainage systems;
  • Implement a cattail control spraying program within the drainage systems;
  • Maintain and update all drainage system maps, plans, and files;
  • Ensure that all laws and regulations are followed and enforced according to Minnesota statutes;
