COVID-19 IMPACT

All DVS exam stations, deputy registrar and driver’s license agent offices are closed March 28-April 10 to follow Governor Tim Walz’s executive order for Minnesotans to stay home and slow the spread of COVID-19.

Transactions & Services

Polk County motor vehicle transactions include license plates, tabs, vehicle transfers, new vehicle and out-of-state registrations, boat, snowmobile, all-terrain, motorcycle and trailer licensing. 

Driver’s licensing includes:

  • Driver’s license renewals
  • Identification cards
  • Instruction permits
  • Name and address changes

Motor Vehicle Transactions

Motor vehicle transactions include:

  • Disability Certificates
  • Duplicate title, plates, and tabs
  • First time Titling of new vehicles
  • New to state transfers
  • Non-titled vehicle transfers
  • Renewals-in person or by mail
  • Special license plate applications (Personalized, collector, etc)
  • Transfers

Driver’s License Transactions

Driver’s License transactions include:

  • Duplicate licenses (lost, name change, etc)

DNR Transactions

DNR transactions include:

  • Boat and Recreational All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) registration, transfers, renewals and duplicates
